Heel-to-toe drop
When it comes to lifting, minimal heel-to-toe drop is desired, as a flatter shoe provides better grip during heavy exercises like squats and deadlifts. Generally speaking, shoes over 8mm are ideal for running, while shoes under 7mm are ideal for cross training and weightlifting. (Some shoes don’t even have lift, but many podiatrists advise against it, as some cushioning is necessary to maintain overall foot and body health.) With an offset of just 7mm, the Reebok Nano X2 Adventure is padded, but not too little and not too much, which makes it better for cross training (especially outdoors, which we’ll get to in a second).
Insole
Inside the Reebok Nano X2 Adventure training shoes you will find very lightly padded and removable insoles. Since you can remove them, you can rinse them and/or hand wash them, which can help keep your shoes looking like new, which is always a plus.
Midsole
The Reebok Nano X2 Adventure training shoes are made with the brand’s signature Floatride Energy foam, typically found in the brand’s running shoes. In that way, it’s a nice inclusion in a training shoe, but it just goes to show why these trainers are best for cross-training exercises like the box jump, side jumps, jump squats, and jump squats. other exercises requiring responsive cushioning and maximum anchorage. Beyond its performance, the Floatride Energy foam makes for very comfortable training shoes. With every step, my feet feel supported and stable, and as comfortable as can be.
outsole
The outsole of the Reebok Nano X2 Adventure training shoes is one of the key details that sets these shoes apart from other cross-training shoes. Unlike sneakers with smooth soles reserved for indoors, these shoes feature highly durable lug soles with grooves so deep you’ll feel stable on any terrain – grass, sand, concrete, dirt trails, etc
Size Reebok Nano X2
In my own experience, the Reebok Nano X2 Adventure training shoes run true to size. The toe box is roomy, but not too big. While the heel clip makes my feet more secure, it should be noted that the lacing system should be fully utilized for the most secure fit. When these shoes arrive, they come with laces threaded through six of the seven holes on each side. While it’s the most comfortable, opting for the seven lace-up holes cements these sneakers to your feet. Otherwise they are very easy to remove – not that they flew off mid workout for me or anything, but given how easy they are to remove with only six holes threaded in I think that could potentially be a possibility. So, for really high intensity moves, you might want to lace up completely.
Who are they best for
The Reebok Nano X2 Adventure training shoes are ideal for anyone looking for a versatile training shoe that can be worn indoors and outdoors, during high intensity workouts and more relaxed excursions. Although they’re specifically designed for outdoor wear, I wore them indoors in my unfinished basement gym and the heavily textured soles were designed for a stable, non-slip sweat session.
That said, while pretty colors (or even neutral colors) are an essential part of your decision-making process, these may not be the best fit for you, purely in terms of style.
Still, if your goal has been to find a great sturdy shoe that allows you to move freely and safely on all surfaces, wet and dry, these are the best picks.
