I think we can all agree that no one perfects the slouchy vibe quite like Adam Sandler.
When I say baggy, I don’t mean bean-stained joggers and an off-white cotton vest soaked in hot lager, I say casual and comfy, but looking good doing it.
Ever since Highsnobiety editor Jake Silbert penned an ode to Sandler’s unexplored and seemingly effortless sense of style earlier this year, I’ve realized there’s an art to it.
I was hooked (obsessed, actually) with how Sandler takes care of her everyday wardrobe. From his morning coffee runs and his golf outfit (not Happy Gilmore gags please), television appearances and even the red carpet, her sartorial intention always remains the same: comfort.
One particular style note that has become an almost signature look for Sandler over the past 12 months is definitely his big baggy shorts, something that reminded me of after seeing him spotted this weekend in Brentwood, Australia. California, with a cold brew in hand and a “Y’ALL” T-shirt.
On this occasion, paired with a pair of Clifton runners from HOKA, it was another great example of the actor’s ability to wear baggy shorts long enough to look like a pair of ill-fitting pants on someone like me, and make them cool. Let’s face it: he’s the epitome of well-made slouch, and that’s what I’m here for.
After topping Google’s 2021 Year in Search list for celebrity outfits, Sandler’s style is clearly no secret and I’m not revealing anything you don’t already know.
But, when it comes to his shorts: where does he stop?
While the sky might be the limit for most people, for Sandler it’s the ground. ‘Cause when these shorts get too long and too baggy, it’s game over. Unless you’re the sandman, of course.
As we collectively try to make jorts “one thing”, let’s keep Sandler’s masterful slouch in mind. Not even necessarily because it’s a direct inspiration, but because we could all learn to be that carefree.
