The Ultraboost sneakers from adidas are hard to beat when it comes to sneakers that look cool and you can wear for training. The beloved brand is constantly releasing new releases using their Boost technology, and for this summer adidas have just released a bunch of new and very fun ones. Ultraboost DNA 5.0s.

Summer is the best excuse to up your summer shoe game, and it’s hard to find a better fit to do so than DNAs. First, they have the response and cushioning of Boost technology which is great for long days, especially if you’re someone who tries to spend as much time outdoors in hot weather as possible. But DNA is also breathable. The stretchy, airy yarn is made from 50% Parley Ocean plastic and 50% recycled polyester. The new colors also seal the deal. The brand revamped its standard all-black, all-white men’s and women’s shoes by turning the lacing cages into a neon ombre color using greens, yellows, pinks and oranges. The little pop of color is a playful addition, but doesn’t make the whole shoe look busy. It’s just a little something fun for all those summer runs.

Running is, in fact, one of the best ways to wear the shoes. The DNA shoe is good for just about anything, but running and walking (for exercise or just for life) are its two most appropriate activities. The technical details of the shoe aren’t as intense as, say, the more capable Ultraboost 22s, but a stylish summer run, this shoe is airy and comfortable. The real secret is in the Boost midsole, which is made up of little bouncing pods that bounce off the ground and propel you forward. The DNA originally launched in 2018, just a few years after adidas started putting their Boost technology into new shoe shapes. Since then, DNA has been a perennial favorite.

While these little numbers are great for running, we might like them even better for walking. This includes mindful walks as a brain clearing activity during the day or a walk wherever you might be on the weekends. They’re also a travel favorite because they give your feet soft, flexible support during the day, while providing the structure you need for a workout, without having to pack another pair of trainers. Plus, the stretchy upper is great for the environment and also allows your feet to expand and contract.

This airy Primeknit upper is part of adidas’ ongoing commitment to sustainability. Here, the yarn used is made with Parley Ocean Plastic, which is salvaged from polluted shorelines, in partnership with adidas’ End Plastic Waste campaign. adidas takes discarded waste and turns it into shoe fabric. If the breathability and bright color weren’t enough, knowing that these shoes really do keep the beaches clean is enough to convince us we need them.

Ultraboost DNAs go well with just about anything, but we especially love them with just about any pair of shorts you own. They look great with activewear – even some of those retro gym shorts you won’t wear to the gym – but we also love them with chinos and denim shorts for a long weekend. adventures. Plus, they’re great with leggings and joggers. The look of the shoe is inherently casual, so you can’t go wrong leaning in. If you like to play with levels of formality, they’re also cool to juxtapose with a silky midi dress.
