HOUSTON – Ranard Hardman and his one-of-a-kind painted and airbrushed shoes are now staples locally and around the world.

Hardman told KPRC it took eight years of hard work and a bit of luck.

“One day, like I said, I was working at Target, and I decided it was time for me to quit that job. And I left and I left on faith,” Hardman said.

About six months later, one of his custom designs caught the eye of a Houston-area rap legend.

“Paul Wall saw them and posted them and said ‘BEST I’S EVER,'” Hardman said.

The shoes were a success, and Hardman’s business took off. He now takes orders from people all over the world.

“If anyone wants custom shoes, all they have to do is tell me what kind of shoes they want. If they have the shoe, [they’ll] send me a photo, tell me what they want and I’ll design from there,” Hardman said.

Hardman even struck up a relationship with the Houston Astros who asked him to do custom work live at Minute Maid Park.

His most recent design and creation went to the family of Yordan Alvarez.

He also designed shoes for Bun B, Kevin Hart and Mary J. Blige.

Hardman said the best part is that he works from home and spends time with his pregnant wife and six children.
