A smart mum has revealed how she gave her family’s dirty white trainers a new look.
In a Publish to the Mums Who Clean Facebook group, Victoria’s wife shared her tips for getting “satisfying” results.
She said she wanted to throw away her daughter’s dirty Converse sneakers, but after giving them a few scrubs with stain remover and soaking them in water with denture tablets, they came out sparkling clean .

She said she rinsed the shoes, then cleaned the dirt with warm water and Vanish Oxi Action stain remover spray and left them to soak in a bucket of water with denture tablets.
“I honestly didn’t think they would come out this good, especially with the Converse. My daughter wouldn’t let me throw them away so I had to make them,” the mum wrote.
She said she rinsed the shoes then cleaned the dirt off with warm water and Vanish Oxi Action stain remover spray.
Mom let them soak for half an hour then rinsed and scrubbed them several times.
She then soaked them in a bucket of warm water with four denture tablets for each pair of shoes.
Once the dirt spots were “almost gone,” she put them in the washing machine on a cycle with clothes and normal detergent or powder, then let them dry in the sun.

With a bit of “hard work”, the grimy trainers came out so beautiful that some group members in the comments thought the mom had “photoshopped” the results.
“I need to know what kind of sorcery this is without having to buy new shoes!” one woman said while another wrote: “This is amazing!

‘I get mine the same way using Vanish soap and a nail brush. Give them a good amount of soap, a five minute scrub and then a 40C wash,” one member suggested.
‘I use toothpaste on my shoes and they come out sparkling white!! Just wet the shoe, apply toothpaste (white), use an old toothbrush to scrub it and let it sit for about an hour, then wash it normally,” a second explained.
