With winter nearing its end in most areas, that means the 2022 driving season is about to begin. What better way to get into the riding spirit than by upgrading your riding gear? The 2022 season is packed with exciting new gear options from all your favorite manufacturers. Ixon, a popular French gear manufacturer, aren’t falling behind with their new riding boots in the form of the Ranker WP.

The Ranker WP sits in the middle of full winter gear and summer gear in the sense that it provides adequate ventilation while being waterproof and insulated at the same time. As such, you could say the Ranker WP is mid-season gear. At a glance, the Ranker features sporty styling accentuated by bold pops of color. It is made of a polyurethane microfiber which gives it a leatherette finish. Inside the shoe, a waterproof but breathable membrane protects your feet from cold and rain, while allowing adequate ventilation when temperatures rise.

The liner is accompanied by a moisture-wicking mesh interior for maximum comfort, especially during long hours in the saddle. The shoe fits perfectly thanks to an ATOP ratchet buckle closure, similar to what we find on some of the more performance-oriented Ixon offerings. Meanwhile, the Ranker WP does not compromise on safety despite its casual style thanks to numerous reinforced areas and protectors. The heel, sole and toe box get extra reinforcement, while the top of the toe section is also reinforced for longevity, especially when shifting gears.

Overall, the Ixon Ranker WP achieves safety certifications to the latest EN 13634:2017 standard, as well as CE Level 2 protection thanks to its mid-cut design. The Ranker WP comes in two color options, a subtle black and a sporty combo of black and red. A female-specific version called Ranker WP Lady is also available. Regardless of color and type, it retails for just 149.99 euros, the equivalent of US$174.
