Katie Holmes is known for her minimalist yet edgy street style, whether she’s wearing a cashmere bralette, overalls or cover-up dress. But even when the Dawson’s Creek alum casually runs errands, her outfit still manages to strike a dress match.
Yesterday, the actress was photographed in New York wearing a powder blue tracksuit and chunky white sneakers. The set is reminiscent of another fashion icon who made the sweatshirt and chunky trainer combo the nonchalant uniform of It girls everywhere: Princess Diana. However, the late Princess of Wales styled her jumpers with a pair of biker shorts.
Holmes kept her accessories low-key, carrying only a large black shoulder bag.
Holmes has already spoken to BAZAAR.com about pairing the pressures of Hollywood dress with his own personal style.
“We live in a world where we have a first and you want to be beautiful, and that becomes a fashion person, and I’m like, ‘Well, I just like to be beautiful, I’m not really a fashion la nobody.’ We all just want to look good,” she says. “I love my t-shirts and I love my vintage t-shirts. They’re so delicious. They’re a little dirty, a little stained or whatever, and that’s me.”
She also encouraged others to look into sustainable practices, like buying vintage or used items, when it comes to updating your wardrobe.
“We no longer have a choice,” she adds. “We have to be smart and aware, and do the right thing.”
