Sustainable footwear and apparel brand Allbirds steps into summer with its latest running shoe, The Tree Flyer, featuring the ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Parent Trap’ star as its ambassador.
Founded in 2016, Allbirds is a New Zealand/American brand that seeks to replace petroleum-based synthetic materials in footwear with sustainable alternatives. The brand reports that 75% of its materials are from sustainable, natural and recycled sources. Using Lindsay Lohan’s iconic name, the brand seeks to expand its mission to a wider audience.

“I didn’t run track in high school — I was more of a mathlete,” she says in the spot, referencing her starring role in the cult classic “Mean Girls.”
The Tree Flyers are aimed at runners of all skill levels, to make both fitness and durability easy and accessible. The limited-edition shoes are available starting June 29 for $180.
Durability and sneakers seem to be in fashion. Dole’s Piñatex, a leather substitute made from pineapple skins that would simply have become waste, won the company’s Creative Transformation Grand Prize at the Cannes Lions last week.
