“Growing up, I always had an intense love for sneakers and streetwear style. It had always been difficult to get original pairs of sneakers because there were no vendors or stores. on my aunts or friends abroad to bring me pairs when they visit. So last year I was in Dubai at the time and thought why not open a sneaker store at me in lagos for sneaker lovers like me to come in and buy the sneakers they love, besides waiting for personal buyers to take all the time to deliver or buy online, you can wear the sneaker to see how it really fits you. Well, that thought gave birth to Flykicks and today it’s a brand that sneaker lovers in Nigeria love. I’m glad we were able to solve a problem that we, the fans sneakers, let’s meet. I’m glad we’re filling this v idea”.
On the challenges he faces in running the business, he said: “Well, most of the challenges range from restocking sneakers because first I have to find all the different sizes, trying to win raffles, finding overseas dealers and shipping them to Nigeria. Sometimes it can be quite stressful and time consuming. But we don’t let that deter us. We keep moving.”
The fashionable businessman also said he has secured patronage from some of Nigeria’s biggest celebrities.
“Celebrities like to stay true to their feet, so they always shop with us at flykicks. People like Rema, Zlatan, Backroad Gee, Vector, Mayorkun, Dremo, Buju, Big Brother Naija’s Neo, Dorathy, Poco Lee and more. others supported us.
The Flykicks boss also noted that building a strong brand image and building a streetwear community will be among the milestones the company has recorded so far.
“I would say that in addition to being profitable, we’ve been able to build a strong brand image and community as the streetwear culture grows and more and more people tune in. We started last year and will be one in August. We are moving to a much bigger store as we have naturally outgrown our current store”.
