LOCK HAVEN – The shoe bank will be open this Saturday, October 15. Eligible children and teens can get a pair of new sneakers or shoes for free.

Children or teens up to age 18 can choose new shoes, socks and books for free every six months at the Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank. They are eligible if their family has Compass and lives in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin Elementary School area. Families who do not have Compass can be referred by an agency.

The Shoe Bank is located inside the Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., and is usually open one Saturday a month, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments are mandatory.

Pre-register for your timeslot, be prepared to show your Compass app or paper on each visit, and wear a mask when visiting.

To schedule an appointment, call or text Diahann at 814-571-5324 (weekdays 7-9 p.m., please). Leave a message and she will contact you when she sets the schedule. You can even contact her this Saturday, the opening day of the Shoe Bank, in case a time slot becomes available.

If you are sick, please call to reschedule. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let Diahann know as soon as possible as she maintains a waiting list.

Volunteers are always welcome. Those unable to help on Shoe Bank Saturdays are invited to help with the setup on Thursday afternoons.

Anyone who knows a family who may benefit from this service is asked to spread the word.

Funding is provided by the Clinton County Community Foundation, an M&T Bank grant, clubs and civic groups, churches and individual donors.
