Nike’s best-selling Air Zoom Alphafly sneaker gets a decidedly modern update with its latest iteration inspired by marathon athletes: the Air Zoom Alphafly Next% 2.

As it is intended to elevate the limits of runners in marathons and long-distance races, the style has gained several technological advancements in its construction – with input from marathon runners themselves, including Eliud Kipchoge. The first is notably the pair’s lightweight ZoomX foam midsole, which includes additional foam under the forefoot – which aims to boost wearers’ energy levels and create a smoother ride with every step.

In addition, full-length curved carbon plates and wider heels have been inserted into the shoes to increase stability while running.

Building on Nike’s evolved silhouette, the style’s knit uppers have also been updated with Atomknit 2.0; an advanced version of its lightweight stretched FlyKnit fabric, which also includes padding under its laces. The new iteration increases comfort, breathability and foot support thanks to the fine texture and soft feel of the material.
