The City of Johannesburg Sports and Recreation Region A has gone all out to show that working out and incorporating positive changes into your daily routine can help you achieve a healthier lifestyle. Riverside Square saw calories shredded recently as Sports and Recreation Region A held an aerobics session as part of the healthy lifestyle program Joburg City Sports and Recreation has launched throughout the city.

Local aerobics clubs in Greater Midrand and Ivory Park helped mobilize community members to participate in the program. All ages were welcome, but most participants were women. Volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the program and the good health of the citizens, the group instructors showed up in force.

Aerobics not only improves cardiovascular health and performance, but it can also help strengthen bones, improve sleep, and even extend people’s lives. It is by far one of the most effective ways to live a longer and healthier life.

Moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week can significantly reduce the risk of chronic lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and cardiovascular disease. The risk of having a heart attack is also significantly reduced and bone density may improve.

“Life is precious and living a healthy life is even more so because without health, life is tasteless food. Health gives you the opportunity to make your life more joyful and allows you to participate in all the activities you want,” said Enock Mosiea, the project manager.

“The cost of a longer, healthier, happier life is just 150 minutes of movement a week, so put on some sneakers and hit the pavement today,” Mosiea said.
