The event organizers try to get kids interested in the dance who otherwise might not attend.
Pupils from Bacon’s College were joined by children from four other schools in a special dance event this week.
Rotherhithe School held a Step Around Town event, a program run by the Royal Academy of Dance and the Jack Petchey Foundation to get children interested in dance who might not otherwise attend.
The program will eventually bring together over 400 dancers from 40 groups across seven London boroughs.
Bacon’s dance students performed a special performance as part of their school’s night out.
Speaking after the event, Ms Dryden, head of dance at Bacon’s, said it was “absolutely wonderful” to host the event. “I think the dancing tonight was absolutely amazing, such a wonderful range from contemporary dance to street dancing and freestyle. It was a really enjoyable evening.
Gerard Charles, Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Dance, said: “Step Around Town events are a fantastic opportunity for students to come together to celebrate with each other and experience performing in front of an audience. . It is always inspiring to see the positive results of their work and the diversity of their performance.
