A special collaboration between 2K Australian and Gamilaroi and indigenous artist Wiradjuri Allan McKenzie will see the unique pair of Harden Stepback 2.0 shoes auctioned off for indigenous charity Red Dust. All proceeds from the auction will help Red Dust work “to enrich lives, improve health and strengthen the future of Indigenous youth and families.”
The auction will take place on Red Dust’s eBay page on February 21 at 12 p.m. AEDT and will continue until March 2 at 12 p.m. AEDT.

McKenzie said, “I’m honored that 2K asked me to collaborate on one of their most popular games, which inspired much of the shoe design as well as the basketball game. It’s amazing to be able to sell my creations at auction for a cause close to my heart, which fits so well NBA 2K22.”
In the video above, Mckenzie talks about using the colors of the rainbow to mirror the Rainbow Serpent and create a strong connection to Indigenous culture and storytelling.
“As we begin this year delivering Red Dust’s healthy living program to remote communities, we are thrilled to partner with Allan and 2K on this unique initiative,” said Scott Stirling, CEO of Red Dust. “Basketball is deeply embedded in the history of Red Dust. Our founder, John Van Groningen, had close ties to the NBL and our early visits to remote communities involved star NBL players as volunteers. Their efforts have inspired hundreds of athletes to follow suit for 25 years, engaging in inspiring two-way exchanges with thousands of young Indigenous children in remote communities.
