THE SECOND ANNUAL COSTUME AND SNEAKERS GALA IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS IS THIS WEEK! THE EVENT SUPPORTS RESEARCH ON CHILDHOOD CANCER AND ACCESS TO CARE. LAST YEAR’S SUITS AND SNEAKERS HAD A PEP RALLY FEELING WITH LOTS OF HOG SPIRIT. THIS YEAR, THEY ARE HERE TO HONOR THE 1994 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM AND TO CELEBRATE THE CURRENT MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM. COACH ERIC MUSSELMAN AND HIS WIFE DANYELLE ARE THE GALA CHAIRS. (“What’s so cool about living in Northwest Arkansas and honestly all over the state. Because we have people from Little Rock and everywhere traveling to come to this event. from us. so that’s great to see. // pediatric cancer research helps globally but it’s also important for us to have money that goes directly to northwest arkansas .”) LAST YEAR A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS WENT TO A HOPE CANCER RESOURCE GRANT AT SPRINGDALE. THIS YEAR’S COMPLETE EVENT WILL BENEFIT THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. AS WELL AS ANOTHER CAMPAIGN CALLED COACHES AGAINST CANCER CANCER
Suits & Sneakers co-president Danyelle Musselman shares her excitement for this year’s gala
Coach Eric Musselman and his wife Danyelle Musselman are co-chairs of the second annual Suits and Sneakers! The event raises money for the benefit of the American Cancer Society to help with pediatric cancer research, as well as access to care by helping to provide money for gas, food allowances and other resources. For Danyelle, the cause is personal. Her mother, Theresa Cruz, was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her grandparents also died of cancer. Cruz underwent a double mastectomy and chemotherapy, and she has been in remission for 15 years. This year’s theme for the Costume and Sneaker Gala on Oct. 14 in downtown Fayetteville is a throwback – “1994,” to celebrate the Razorback men’s basketball team winning the NCAA championship. Danyelle is a former sportscaster and reporter for several local national networks, including ESPN and the NFL Network. Now she is dedicated to leading “Team Musselman” and devoting her time and energy to encouraging Arkansas Razorback athletes and teams, community service and local philanthropy.
