Like any other year, 2022 has been great for Nikenot only in terms of offering new colorways for existing models, but also adding newly modified silhouettes to its already substantial sneaker collection.
The brand at the Swoosh dominated media coverage throughout 2022 thanks to the release of its highly anticipated sneaker releases, particularly LeBron 20 and Slipper SHOX by Martine Rose MR4 shoes.
In case Nike fans missed these popular releases, here is a compilation of the top five releases that caught the attention of sneakerheads.
Five Popular Nike 2022 Launches You Can’t Miss
1) Nike LeBron 20
The LeBron 20 is the first low-top sports shoe from LeBron’s eponymous selection. At first glance, LeBron’s career highlights are referenced in the elaborate graphics on the shoe’s side rails. LeBron says the LeBron 20 was created with future generations in mind, even though the shoe honors heritage.
The Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel, as well as the carbon fiber shank in the midfoot, are the main features of the shoe. The forefoot has a top-loaded Zoom Air Turbo unit for underfoot cushioning, and the heel has a larger 13mm-thick Zoom Air unit to provide shock absorption.
The side guard is covered with synthetic material to help maintain foot stability on the midsole. An all-around outsole design secures the sole. The smooth, airy collar liner nods to LeBron’s goal of creating the most luxurious basketball sneakers ever with the Zoom generation.
It’s the first time since Zoom LeBron 5, a carbon fiber midfoot shank that provides efficiency and structural rigidity for dynamic movement, returns to the brand line. After being removed from the outsole of the LeBron 16 for a while, the Dunkman logo is back.
On September 29, LeBron 20 in the “Time MachineThe palette was made available in adult and youth sizes for $200. Colors like “Trinity,” “Beginning“, and others have also been launched recently by the Swoosh label.
2) Air Max Scorpion
The Air Max Scorpion airbag system as a whole raises the bar for sensory design by creating a piston-like action through carefully chosen and loaded contact points between the foot and the airbag. A revolutionary Chenille Flyknit upper with short fibers locked perpendicularly in place by two thick vertical core yarns to create a delicate pile look balances the revolutionary Air system.
Air Max Scorpion was released on October 5. With a retail price of $250 a pair, these pairs were offered by Nike’s SNKRS and a few other retail partners.
3) Air Zoom GT Coupe 2
In 2021, the Greater Than (GT) Series debuted as Nike Basketball’s newest exploration arena. The goal was to create the most technologically advanced sneakers on the market while simultaneously catering to the future generation of skateboarders.
The updated Air Zoom GT Cut 2 is designed for players who quickly open and close space to surprise defenders.
The shoe’s main feature is an all-new, state-of-the-art traction system. It has a rubber compound arranged in a striking wiper blade arrangement with substantial tread channels.
A player can dig into the ground to make quick cuts by applying force with each stride, causing the grooves to split and then close upon relaxation. Up to the forefoot, a second embossed grip zone is dispersed.
Other improvements to the Air Zoom GT Cut 2 include a modified heel structure for a tighter fit, a hollowed out midsole to reduce rubber weight as well as overall shoe weight. A full Zoom Air strobel and React foam sockliner have been restored to the shoe from the original GT Cut style.
The Air Zoom GT Cut 2 silhouette has officially debuted in two colorways, dubbed “Raised” and “Sabrina Ionescu.” While the first was released on September 16, the second arrived on October 13, on the Nike website as well as the Nike app. They are priced at $170 for each pair.
4) Nike x Martine Rose SHOX MR4 Mule
The Swoosh label has teamed up with acclaimed designer Martine Rose to present two new iterations of the SHOX Mule MR4 silhouette. The ‘Black’ version of both colourways was first seen on the catwalk during Martine Rose’s SS23 show at Vauxhall, London. With this design, Rose asserts herself with force and completely changes the composition of the model.
To achieve a cleaner, more streamlined aesthetic, the toe box has been redesigned with a square shape and the outer walls have been compressed.
Branded accents also appear on different parts of the shoe, and his name has been emblazoned on the right shoe insert in addition to the tongue tags. For added style, reflective detailing can be seen on the lace sets and toe caps, and the Shox pistons at the rear have a striking red color.
The Nike x Martine Rose SHOX Mule MR4 shoes were released on July 7 via Martine Rose’s site. Following this, they were also available on Nike’s SNKRS app on September 23, in black and white color options. They were offered with a retail price tag of $200.
5) Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2
The Alphafly NEXT% 2 has been tweaked with a focus on refining the shoe design so all runners can perform long distance runs with better stability and transition.
The Alphafly NEXT% 2 midsole, true to its roots, combines full ZoomX foam (Nike’s lightest and strongest foam), a full-length curved carbon plate and two Zoom Air modules to offer runners an experience reactive, light and comforting. .
To increase energy returns and allow a smooth transition from heel to forefoot as runners take their stride, additional foam has been added under the forefoot Zoom Air pods. A slightly wider heel helps increase stability and makes tempo changes easier.
Atomknit 2.0, which is now used in the upper, has been designed to provide ease under the laces, ventilation above the toes and encapsulation in the forefoot.
The “Prototype” colorway of the new Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2 silhouette released in limited quantities on June 15, with a price tag of $275 for each pair via Nike’s online stores and partner retailers.
These are the five freshly designed silhouettes that have been released by the Swoosh label in the final months of 2022. Other colorways of the aforementioned shoes can be found on the brand’s official website.
