“We are heartbroken to announce that our time with the beloved Lansdowne Hotel is coming to an end. Our lease is due to expire in the coming months, and the owners have chosen to close the Gig Room to build more accommodations This was not part of our vision for Lansdowne, and as such we have decided to end our custodianship of this iconic live music venue.

We will work with the owners to facilitate the remaining shows until the end of April.

Our reopening of Lansdowne in June 2017 marked a seismic shift in Sydney’s live music scene, following years of devastating closures and lockdowns. The Lansdowne became a figurehead in reclaiming our collective consciousness, a bulwark against the wave of shutdowns and a voice against the apathy that had crept into the heart of conversations around our vital nightlife culture.

The Lansdowne showed the power of art and its profoundly important role in our city and our culture. come.

2022 was shaping up to be one of the busiest at Lansdowne, due to the growing community of artists and punters with a passion for music, art and culture. It is deeply moving to call time on an icon, at the height of its powers.

Despite this difficult announcement today, we promise to continue to build stages and create spaces for the voices of our glorious city to emerge.

We thank all the artists and staff who have performed and served their community over the past five years. Thanks to you, the Lansdowne has gone from a lifeless building to one of the busiest concert halls in the country. More than that, the Lansdowne has once again become a home for Sydney artists.

Without your passion, excellence and deep support, this would never be possible.

Thanks thanks thanks.”
