Tia Mowry was spotted leaving the gym today in Los Angeles wearing comfy workout clothes. She was dressed in a mostly black ensemble made up of more athletic pieces mixed with casual clothes.
Athleisure is all about versatility, and Mowry’s cropped jacket is the perfect transitional piece for transitioning from a workout at the gym to a quick run at the coffee shop. Beneath the jacket, Mowry wore a slightly oversized cropped black t-shirt. She wore a black chain bag and stylish gold rings, stacked chains and large sunglasses.
At the bottom, the “Twitches” star style black high waisted leggings with a sleek and comfortable finish.
Modern leggings first appeared in the 1950s, although the style really took off in the 1960s with the invention of Lycra. Leggings became a trend in their own right in the 70s, thanks to disco pants, and maintained their popularity in the 80s, thanks to the aerobics craze.
Building on the athleisure aesthetic, Mowry laced the colorful Nike Air Max Correlate with chunky rubber soles and an oversized silhouette that made the shoes feel much more casual.
Unlike sports-focused sneakers, Chunky sneakers are a more comfortable round style designed for comfort and stability rather than running or climbing. The sneaker style’s popularity slowed in the 2000s, but reemerged as part of the discordant “ugly” shoe trend in the late 2010s.
