As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Voice of Hope is organizing the 14and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes awareness event on April 30and in Lubbock, TX at Safety City. The event includes a community walk as well as food and activities for all ages. This is the first in-person Walk a Mile event hosted by Voice of Hope since 2019. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes 2022 is sponsored by UMC Health System.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an opportunity to raise awareness in the community about the serious causes, effects and remedies of sexual violence. Registration is available online with options for families and large groups available at www.voiceofhopetexas.org or at the walk day entrance.

Kristin Murray, Executive Director of Voice of Hope, declares her enthusiasm for the walk saying, “It’s exciting to be back in person for Walk a Mile, which is a great opportunity to raise awareness about sexual violence in an atmosphere family.”

Participants have the option of wearing red heels during their walk to show their support for survivors. On-site registration begins at 12:00 p.m. and the walk begins at 1:00 p.m. Funds raised are used to help victims of sexual assault and sex trafficking and to help with primary prevention programs and education in the community.
