Earlier this week, What’s new announced (and the internet) that Adidas Originals would be releasing a limited-edition sneaker in collaboration with Dubai’s Ravi restaurant. The cool kicks will launch on June 23, and we have a feeling you’ll need to act fast if you want a pair.
The family business has been around since 1978 and holds a special place in the hearts of many residents, famous for serving authentic Pakistani cuisine at an affordable price. The color mixes two shades of green with an off-white leather body, while inside, the sock liner features a hand-drawn map of the river (or Ravi) in northeast Pakistan.
Adidas has worked directly with the owner to collaborate on the Superstar Ravi, which will be available from adidas.com, priced at Dhs 545 and select exclusive stores in Dubai. These stores include Level Shoes in the Dubai Mall and levelhoes.comas well as Les Benjamins at the Mall of the Emirates, launching at 10 a.m. on June 23.
Sneakerheads familiar with adidas Original’s Superstar shoe will recognize the styling of the Superstar Ravi edition. On the back you will find the name of the restaurant in English on one foot and in Arabic on the other, as well as the year of its foundation. Hero dishes brand the tongue design, while the box packaging includes lime green tissue paper and a “to-go” style cardboard box.
“My family have worked so hard to bring Ravi to where he is now, it has become more than just a restaurant with staff and customers, it has become a home that many have grown up with. To say that Ravi has known humble beginnings and now representing Dubai as a key city with adidas is a milestone to celebrate,” said RAVI Founder Chaudary Abdul Hameed.
